The Sierra Club is a national political system. Information technology is an environmental organization and is "the oldest, largest, and almost influential grassroots environmental organization in the United States."[1] They have a strong belief that humans must share the finite resources on world with all other living things. They fight to help sustain wild animals ecosystems, facilitate species survival, create and protect natural reserves, decrease the bear upon of growing human populations, acquire and educate about nature, create ecosystem friendly technologies and encourage social responsibility.[2] The Sierra Lodge has chapters all over the United States and fifty-fifty in Canada.[3]

History

The Sierra Club was founded in 1892 by John Muir. The group's starting time initiative was to fight a reduction to the boundaries of Yosemite National Park.[4] The outset office opened a year later where they planned various national environmental and preservation campaigns. The Order'southward efforts helped establish or overstate Mr. Rainier National Park, Glacier National Park, Sequoia National Park, Mt. Tamalpais State Park, Kings Canyon National Park, Anza Land Park, Olympic National Park, Point Reyes, Redwood National Park, North Cascades National Park, Large Cypress Preserve and Chiliad Canyon National Park, among others. They also backed ecology legislation including the Clean Air Act in , opposition to a pipeline through the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and opposition to the Keystone XL pipeline.[4]

Mission Statement

"To explore, savour, and protect the wild places of the world; To practice and promote the responsible use of the world's ecosystems and resources; To brainwash and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environs; and to use all lawful means to carry out these objectives."[5]

Leadership

The Sierra Club is led by their Board of Directors. Board members are nominated by the nomination committee and so elected. V members of the xv member Board face election each year.[6]
